The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track faculty position. The investigator’s primary appointment will be in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, but the investigator will also be an affiliate of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Center for Worker Health. Applicants should have a Ph.D., Dr. P.H., M.D., or similar degree.

Cancer is increasingly recognized as a chronic condition requiring ongoing management.  We are interested in researchers whose training and experience allow rigorous study of any aspect of the cancer control-employment relationship.  Relevant topics of study include, but are not restricted to, cancer treatment and worker performance; job-related challenges to effective cancer treatment; cancer survival, continued employment, and worker performance; and pediatric cancer and parental employment. We are interested in individuals capable of designing and implementing innovative research projects using novel data collection and analytic techniques.  Ideally candidates will have experience conducting translational research, but those more focused on community, organizational, or clinical research are also encouraged to apply.

This position requires demonstrated ability to conduct outstanding scholarly work and to obtain peer-reviewed funding.  Successful applicants will serve as principal investigator on their own projects and as co-investigator with multi-disciplinary research teams.  Opportunities exist for collaboration with researchers and clinicians across the School of Medicine and other schools and colleges within Wake Forest University.  Opportunities are available for teaching undergraduate medical students and graduate students.  Physicians may be involved in direct patient care and supervising residents.

Industrial-Organizational Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Industrial-Organizational Psychology to begin July 1, 2010. The appointee will have a Ph.D. from a recognized program in I-O Psychology or possess equivalent training. The successful candidate should have a well-established research program as evidenced by strong peer-reviewed publications and grant funding. All candidates require expertise in Industrial-Organizational Psychology: research area open with a strong preference for Industrial Psychology. Consulting experience is an asset. The successful candidate should be willing to teach and supervise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. In particular, the successful candidate will need to teach advanced graduate statistics courses (e.g., multi-level modeling, structural equation modeling, latent growth modeling).

The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning in August, 2010 in the area of Community Psychology.  Successful applicants will be expected to provide instruction and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and will have an opportunity to participate in the Department’s internship program. Both the Department and Appalachian State University have substantial relationships with the communities and counties in the area that may be available for community psychology research.

Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students and who have a well-developed research agenda. Instructional duties may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. Scholarly duties include publication, thesis supervision, and a willingness to seek external funding to support research.  This is a 9-month position with opportunities for summer teaching.
